Two colostrum tubs can sit at the same price and give you very different amounts of what you are paying for. The fair way to compare them is two numbers from the label: the cost of one serving, and the cost of one gram of immunoglobulin G (IgG). This page shows the math with our own tub, then gives you a worksheet for any other.
Why IgG is the number to compare
Bovine colostrum is the first milk a cow produces after calving. Supplement makers usually standardise it to a stated amount of IgG, the antibody protein colostrum is known for, and list that amount per serving on the Supplement Facts panel. Two tubs can both say “colostrum” on the front while one serving holds very different amounts of IgG, and flavoured powders add sweetener and flavour weight to each scoop. Price per scoop alone hides all of that. Price per gram of IgG does not.
The two formulas
- Cost per serving = price of the tub / servings per tub
- Cost per gram of IgG = price of the tub / (IgG per serving in mg x servings per tub / 1,000)
If the label does not state IgG per serving, you cannot do the second calculation, and that missing number is worth noticing before you buy.
Worked example: SUV Colostrum 2000mg
Our label figures: 2,000 mg of bovine colostrum per 2.55 g scoop, standardised to 400 mg IgG per serving, 60 servings per 153 g tub, unflavoured.
| How you buy it | You pay | Per serving | Per gram of IgG |
|---|---|---|---|
| One tub, one-time | $44.00 | $0.73 | $1.83 |
| One tub, one-time, with $5.90 shipping | $49.90 | $0.83 | $2.08 |
| Two tubs, one-time (free shipping over $65) | $88.00 | $0.73 | $1.83 |
| Subscribe and Save, monthly | $37.40 | $0.62 | $1.56 |
How the numbers come out: one tub holds 400 mg x 60 = 24,000 mg, which is 24 g of IgG. $44.00 / 24 = $1.83 per gram. $44.00 / 60 = $0.73 per serving. Shipping counts: a single tub with $5.90 shipping costs $0.10 more per serving than the same tub in an order of $65 or more.

Four label checks before you buy
- Is IgG stated per serving? A percentage alone works only if you also know the colostrum weight per serving.
- Serving size in grams. A bigger scoop is not more colostrum if part of it is flavour or sweetener.
- Servings per tub. Tubs come in different serving counts, so a lower price can simply mean fewer servings.
- Allergen line. Bovine colostrum is derived from milk. Skip it if you have a dairy allergy, and talk to your physician first if you are pregnant, nursing or taking medication.
